On Sunday 14th May, 12 members from the Pareto team, the “Pareto Dragons”, entered The Manchester Charity Dragon Boat Challenge at Sale Water Park. The teams raced in genuine dragon boats from China, consisting of up to 16 rowers and 1 drummer. They were racing against teams from other businesses, all in the name of charity. The charity Pareto Dragons supported was our charity of the year Centrepoint.
This year 38 teams entered the dragon boat challenge, testing their resilience out in the water. Each team raced 3 times; the teams with the fastest times from the 38 teams entered the finals.
Since it was the first time any of the Pareto team had done Dragon Boat racing, they were absolutely incredible, they came 28 place out of 38.
The team leader Jen said “We weren’t sure what to expect of our first dragon boat race experience, but we all had a fabulous day. Technique can definitely be improved upon, but we were happy with our result as a novice team and look forward to doing it again next year!”
