Our community funding for the last quarter of 2022 went towards Hyde Running Community (HRC). The money funded two runners to complete the Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification.

The course is run by UK Athletics (UKA) and currently costs £190 per person (£160.00 if the person is also registered with a Running Club). HRC aren’t a UKA registered running club, they are a free to join running community with the same ethos as if it were a running club. The groups is free to join, but still have expenses to pay. The biggest expense is the LiRF course.

HRC cannot legally take out any running groups without at least one LiRF within that group. Preferably HRC likes to have two due to the size of some of the groups.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and peoples own personal reasons HRC have lost a few LiRFs within the last couple of years. The LiRFs are unpaid volunteers and do this out of their own time. This money will boost the number of LiRFs and it will massively help the group and enable it to continue thriving and having a positive impact on the local area.
